Recently in our department’s technical symposium Currents ‘11, we had a Guest Lecture delivered by Mr. Gopalakrishnan IAS, on the topic of “Governance”. During the course of his entertaining talk, he mentioned this quote : “The Indian Elephant and the Chinese Dragon”.

Smoke, Booze and Dope
College is a place where you get to meet a variety of people, get exposed to an assortment of cultures and lifestyles. It most certainly ranks among, if not, the BEST years of your life. Also, for one too many, college has traditionally been the birthplace of the habits of smoking, drinking and drug abuse. Being a normal college guy myself, I too have friends, including some of my dearest, who have taken to these ‘recreational’ activities. Yet I choose to abstain. A look at the reasons..

SCIENCE & RELIGION
The Pilot :
It is a well known fact that conflict between science and religion has been inherent for centuries. Science and religion are generally considered immiscible with each other. Their struggles have been strong, the rivalry bitter. This is well publicised through a number of infamous and notorious incidents in history. But lesser known is the flip side to this coin – Science and Religion do have things in common, share ideologies that reinforce each other.
